50 Years of Innovation & Excellence: Skater Powerboats 50th Anniversary
In honor of 50 years of excellence and innovation from Skater Powerboats, Circus Media House was proud to take on the task of creating a special video tribute to celebrate this milestone. Collaborating with Offshore Vintage, Scrapyard Media, and RP Elite Motors & Marine, the video was designed to capture the legacy of Skater Powerboats and its lasting impact on the high-performance boating world.
The tribute was presented to Skater’s founder and visionary, Peter Hledin, alongside his family and a gathering of esteemed guests. This celebration took place at two of the most anticipated events in the powerboating community: the 2024 LOTO Shootout in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and SkaterFest 2024 in Lake Texoma, Oklahoma. Both events served as fitting backdrops to honor Peter Hledin’s lifelong contributions and the incredible 50-year journey of Skater Powerboats, which continues to push the boundaries of offshore performance and design.

Skater History: “The Hledin Family Skater” - Circa. 1987
This 24 Skater touched multiple members of the Hledin family in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Like all Skaters, it was built by Peter, in Douglas Michigan, it was owned by his brother Alex, and mostly driven / throttled by Alex’s son Scott and family friend Don Ford.
Alex, who made a name for himself in the tunnel boat racing industry as one of the best high-performance outboard engine tuners in the world, equipped the 24 Skater with two custom made Mercury 2.7 litre 2-stroke engines.
As a result, this 24 Skater was FASSSTTT…. She was caught on radar at 125 mph, and likely went quicker than that at times.
The boat has since been sold out of the family, and has recently been lovingly restored by Speedmaster Marine for a lucky Canadian customer.
